In January of 1993 Glorya took a trip to Bali with a friend, Rita Spina, after the passing of her husband in an effort to help her heal. They visited the island of Sulawesi. While there, she witnessed a parade with large statues and bright bold colors. Glorya was fascinated with the architecture and how the same themes are incorporated in most of the designs. Although there was part of this culture that was very different from what she knew, and that was their funeral practices of dressing up life size statues,in their loved ones in the clothes they wore before they passed. These statues were on the hills and mountains outside the entrance of the gravesite.
