Art is something that has followed Glorya her whole life. Painting had become an enduring passion of hers; she credits an inspiring painting teacher, Dino Sider, with instilling in her the fundamental skills and an early appreciation of her innate talents. Her work was instinctive, natural, and unpretentious. Fireworks from the 1984 Olympics inspired an exuberant burst of pastel colors that greeted her every morning; Glorya created a subsequent series on the same theme that she gifted to her 33 graduates of the 2019 first class of the Glorya Kaufman International School for Dance. Her work can also be seen throughout the school’s building and in the homes of countless friends and family.
Over the years she has experimented with a variety of styles and subjects, from the striking, geometric Pyramids in the Electronic Age to exquisite still lifes and impressionist floral compositions. Glorya had an ever changing style and technique which she worked to perfect and soon after moved onto discovering a new medium or style to master.
She was a connoisseur of colors, which were always important features of her pieces.
“I would never sell my paintings, although many have wanted to buy them. I give them away to my family and friends. Those that I felt would really appreciate them.”
